Since I've been so quiet around here lately I figured I'd kick things off again with a meme. Stolen from

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Job searching is the most frustrating, time-consuming thing ever and I hate it.
On the bright side, I'm pretty excited about starting my Massage Therapy licensing classes soon! I should have a much better chance of landing some work once that's all finished. It'd be nice to work at a spa of some sort.
But man, I would REALLY like some work right now. Getting some more money in my savings is a priority.

Back from visiting Kurtis in Arizona!
And after 5 years of dating, we're now engaged <333 Kurtis proposed on July 21st at 1:30AM, which is about the same time we began dating back in 2004. It feels so good to be one step closer to spending an eternity with him! No ring yet, because we're thinking of getting it custom-made with a diamond his grandmother gave him when he was younger. :)
There's also no date for the wedding yet, but we were planning on having it in the spring, maybe in March or April. It all depends on how soon either one of us can get a good job.

HO HUM. So, I'm not sure if I've mentioned it anywhere, but I'll be going on a 10-day vacation to Arizona starting on the 18th (this Saturday) so that I can spend some much-needed time with Kurtis and his family...
As you may (or may not) know, my dad works in Iraq every year and comes home during the summer for vacation, usually for 2 to 3 months before he's back out again. This year was different, however, since his work contract has been renewed. So his time here in the US was shortened to just a month vacation. He was originally supposed to go back to Iraq on the 16th, but we found out this week that his vacation's been extended 'til the 25th.
Yeah, OF COURSE I'm happy that he's able to stay for another week!
Thing is, I've already bought my flight ticket to Arizona. I would gladly postpone my trip, but I've searched through the airline website to find that the ticket is non-refundable. The only thing I can do short of just going on the trip and missing dad's final week in the states (or just straight up missing the flight) is change my itinerary, which costs an extra $150 (which I can NOT pay at this time due to classes starting soon). So, I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I've already talked to my parents about it, and they're obviously sad that I won't be here to see my dad off, but we suppose there's not much else we can do about it. Just such bad timing... I wish we could've found out about this vacation extension sooner. The best that I can do is make the most out of these last couple days, and at least call home often during my 10 days out.
Man, do I feel awful :(

I'm bored to tears and wanted a break from commissions. :B
Over a year late, but I don't care, lol. Kurtis recently got me back into this game after several months! Forgot where I stole this from

When people snark another artist for not "drawing good for their age." For example, 18 year-old Artist #1 making fun of 21 year-old Artist #2 for not drawing as "good" as when Artist #1 was 10... if that makes any sense at all.
You're never too old to be a beginner at something.

Man, I feel so insensitive for not caring about Michael Jackson's death as much as other people seem to be. I dunno, I was just never that into his music or into him (or any celebrities, for that matter). It's kind of like mourning for a stranger.
Doesn't change the fact that I still feel for his family and loved ones. And that we've lost someone who apparently contributed so much to the music industry.
But I also feel a little bad that Farrah Fawcette's death seemed to be brushed aside so quickly upon his hospitalization.

Well obviously, I've been back from the con for almost a week now, but I never felt like writing a recap or anything, lol. I've also been away from the computer a lot lately.
Anyway, my very first con of any sort! It was small, but everyone seemed to know each other. Also got to know lots of really cool peeps that I hope to see again in the future. <3 I didn't take any commissions, since I just wanted to use my time to explore and get to know what goes on at a con. But I'll be shooting for a Dealer's Den spot next year! And maybe even putting up some stuff in the art show.
Also, I discovered during the convention that I REALLY LOVE FURSUITS! Seriously, 90% of the photos I took at the con are of fursuits. xD If I see an awesome one, I just can't resist hugging it! It's making me really want to get one of Anjila someday.
Anyway, photos! WARNING: Like I said, most photos are of fursuits because I suck. :) Also, my poor camera was way close to dying near the end of the con, so taking more pics surely would've killed it before then.
( Furry photo dump! )
Plenty more stuff happened, but I don't feel like covering it all, hahaha. Stuff included the throwing of shrimp ice, searching for our drunken friend, the horrible mistake of walking into the cabaret (which thankfully didn't happen to me), failing at markers, being leaped onto while trying to sleep, and being taken out to lunch by 5p1ic3 and Scribbles and company. :>
Thanks to those of you who bothered to hang out with me <3 Much love!
See you Califurries next year!

Our dog Sheena had had this alarming bump growing around her anal area for a while, so we went and had it checked out by a vet a couple weeks ago. The vets surgically removed the mass last week and sent it in for testing to make sure it wasn't cancerous. Poor thing still has to wear a cone so that she doesn't bite her stitches, haha. She bumps into everything!
Luckily, we received the test results a couple days ago and turns out the tumor was benign. :) I was so relieved! It's mostly because if she DID have cancer, we would have to put her to sleep, because we would not be able to afford treatment. Now all we've gotta do is watch out and make sure it doesn't grow back.
I couldn't imagine losing Sheena. She may be 8½ years-old, but she's still got the energy of a puppy :>
Also, how the heck am I awake at 8am?

So, uh. My plans to move to Arizona have pretty much fallen through and need to be canceled for the time being. I'm VERY upset about it and it's had me kind of depressed for the last couple days. Buuut... it's not like it's the end of the world or anything. Life goes on. I still have until the end of the summer, anyway. The idea of finally being in Arizona, though, had me so hopeful.
The money I'd been earning especially for my moving fund will be saved for when/if my plans are back up again, and not blown on stupid crap like excessive commissions or gadgets. Thanks to those of you who have supported me :) Thank you so much.
Okay, something positive! I am very much looking forward to this summer! Dad will be home, bunches more free time for everyone, and I'll get to spend massive amounts of time with my SO. Can't wait! It's been so long... :>
And finally, SOMETHING MADE OF WIN HOLY CRAP
What in the world am I doing up at 4:40am
